Pølaroit talk about their new single ‘Underwater’

Pølaroit are based in Hannover, Germany, but their new album is inspired by Denmark’s landscapes.

Their first single Underwater is out this weekend and is an uplifting and nostalgic sound. It features singer Margret who adds warmth to the track’s toe-tapping electro beats and gentle piano melodies.

Meet Pølaroit…

Tell us who you are and what’s your sound

Hey, we’re pølaroit, we live in Hannover and together we make music for two years now. We would describe our sound as an electronic snapshot of time, influenced by melancholic melodies and organic textures.

What exciting projects have you got coming up?

Next to the exciting “Underwater” release, there’s a whole EP “Pure” coming in the beginning of October. We’re creating a music video and of course, it’s very exciting for us to be part of the Ki Records Family now.

Where did you grow up and what music influenced you?

We grew up near Hanover. Jonas had been influenced as a pianist by neo-classical artists such as Nils Frahm and Olafur Arnalds as well as scoring pieces for film and advertisement. Marius, on the other hand, had been deeply influenced by his interest in percussion and the urban electronic music scene of the time.

What cool places do you recommend to visit in your city?

For us, Hannover is a big city that feels like a cozy village. So we would recommend to just let yourself drift. Besides that, we both live in the district Linden. Here you need to taste the vegan kebab from La Muro definitely (also if you’re not living vegan).

We love recommendations – what have you been listening to, watching, or reading recently?

Recently we love the new The Micronaut album. Or if you prefer older stuff we love the first Gidge album Autumn Bells. Lately, we watched the one-shot movie Victoria with music by Nils Frahm & DJ Koze.

Finally, what was the last thing that made you swear out loud?

Together with our friend Tobi we’re creating the whole visual project of the upcoming EP. Lately, we had a lot of creative ideas about the music video that changed daily. Because of that, we had some emotional discussions.
